It is very important to study for any test. Our exams have finished but now we come to the challenge of facing our teacher one on one for our personal maths test. These Presentations have helped me prepare myself for those test. They teach me to understand problems and whether I use addition, multiplication or division for solving it out.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Pt England have been sharing movies for the Manaiakalani Film Festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts for the past 10 years now. This year has been a blast! Being able to create movies and not to mention celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Manaiakalani. I loved each movie that were presented by my school and others, they were very inspirational and had different opinions around it. But this movie particularity caught my eye. This movie is about our Sevens boys and there journey to becoming champions. I hope you enjoy!

What it means to be a good role model.

WALT: Take care of the little things in our writing I believe that a good role model is someone who has good qualities which are admired and he/she is someone who I would aspire to be like when I grow up. They are somebody who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way at all time. A role model is someone who has strength and determination to get up each and every morning, and even after a lifetime of pain he/she always gives the world another chance. In today’s lesson I will be sharing to you 3 ways to be a good role model.
One way to become a good role model is by doing things without being told. For example, finishing off your homework. When you complete your homework, it leaves you with relief knowing that you don’t have to worry until next week's assignments. It also means that when you come home you have more time to yourself, and not to mention it will leave both you and your teacher satisfied at the end of the day.
Another way to be a good role model is to, treat others the way you want to be treated. I think this is very important because, if you treat someone with no respect or positivety, they will probably treat you the same way and then, a lot of anger and bad feelings will be flowing between you and that person. But, if you treat he/she as your equal, in the future, you would most probably become best friends and you both will create many great and wonderful memories together.

For my final example all good role models always have humility and willingness to admit mistakes. Nobody is perfect. When you make a bad decision, let those who are watching and learning from you know that you made a mistake and how you plan to correct it.
By apologising, accepting accountability, and correcting course, you will be demonstrating an often overlooked part at being a role model.

True role models are those who posses qualities. They choose to be who they are. Their the ones who decide whether to choose the good or bad.

A few weeks back we were given a task to write and share our speech with our class. My speech was about why education should be free, watch the first video to find out more. In the second video I had to explain how I felt before and after my speech, what I think I could improve on and what I thought I did well at.

Tamaki College - Tech Tuesday

Today at tech we created, "Honey Chicken & Garlic Bread". It was a bit different to the things we usually create. In this lesson we learnt how to cut our chicken, make our own mayonnaise to mayonnaise our chicken. Not to mention we also learnt to create our own garlic butter for our bread.

It was really fun because, it was a new experience for me to learn and try cut my own chicken. To be able to equally mayonnaise it and the fact that I also got to bond with my partner.

I cant wait to see what term 3 has waiting for me and my team.

Diary Writing - Inquiry

On Wednesday, my group started to create our mini garden just outside of Room 1. It took us girls a while because the soil was a bit to hard to dig, we manged to dig the soil with a bit of help from the boys in Room 1.

We started off with just a box filled with dirt. Than we worked our way up to the stage where the soil became, soft, mushy and mucky.

After all the hard digging, we started to pick all the dead roots and also started breaking down all the big lumps of dirt. Each and everyone of us got a turn to dig, pick and break apart all the dirt.

It was actually quite a lot of fun, not only did we get muddy and dirt, we also got to bond with each other. Having little giggles, create funny flower jokes, being able to play music to keep us all motivated... I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

Speeches

WALT: Identify feature of persuasive writing

I learnt how to identify features of persuasive writing. I also learnt that, to persuade someone into your speech/presentation you must have... A personal story, thought provoking questions, or a powerful statement. These three things should be the main options to create a hooking speech.

Tamaki College - Tech Tuesday

Last week on Tuesday, us Yr8's went down to Tamaki College for TECH - (Technology).

I was in cooking. That day we were learning how to create Quiche Pie's. But, the main topic was learning about the different types of pastry.

Our teacher told us different methods on how you know your pastry is just right or, when you have over worked it.

She also taught us what ingredients we will need and what type of equipment we will need for that lesson. The results were overwhelming. All the ingredients just swarming in my mouth, just the smell of it made me drool. But that will not be the end of my pastry journey, this is only stage one of our lesson.

Stage two, we will be creating the same thing but... The only difference is that it is going to be one big whole quiche instead of the mini cupcake sized ones you see in the picture. Not to mention it's gonna put all our pastry skills to the test, and to see who was actually paying attention last section.

My experience from last week would have to be learning most of the different types of pastry. What I think I could of done better was, making sure that I have all my ingredients before I start dicing everything up.

We had to read and understand the text to be able to find the key themes and
messages in the story.

What makes a weekend fun?

Image result for pictures of intermediate kids having funWe all know weekends can be the most lifeless two days of our lives. The only thing we do are chores and church stuff but, their are some other ways to make your weekends more exciting. Here are a few things you can do to brighten your weekend.

One of the things you could do is, invite a friend over. Having a friend over can keep you company and they can chat to you whenever you need help. Not to mention they can help you clean your room and do some chores and it will be way better than doing it by yourself.

Another thing you could do during the weekends is, go on a family trip to the beach. On hot days, family trips can be extremely fun and something that will keep you interested and keep active at the same time. You can even invite other friends and families to have a more enjoyable day and to spend more time with everybody else.

You can go to a playground and play some games with friends so that you won’t get bored so easily. Sometimes staying home is good but bad at the same time, the reason being is because you can’t stay in your house forever without doing something really fun. We always have to keep active so our bodies can stay in shape and so we can keep fit, maybe one day you might eventually beat one of the fastest boy/girl in your class.

So instead of sitting at home watching TV with unwashed teeth, try set something to do with your families and friends in the weekend, now I am going to leave you with this one little question... "What can you do to make your weekend fun?".

Visual Mihi

WALT: Create a DLO showing a few things you love

In the top right corner there is a little word saying family.  For me family is one of the most important things apart of my life, they have raised me up to be a mature leader and, also not to mention they raised me to be a smart and talented young lady.

Just under that, in the right bottom corner, there is a drawing of a Holy Bible.  This represents how I adore going to church each and every Sunday, that I believe in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and, I love learning new things about the gospel.

In the left bottom corner, you will find a mini turtle with patterns, multiple colors and five stars. Well that represents my culture, Samoa Chahoo! Samoa is a very special place because, it is where I shared all my good memories with my families and friends, it's a place filled with love and passion. But the thing I love most about it is that, we are like one big family no matter what family you come from, we all seem to get along with others very nicely.

Last but not least in the top left corner we have Sports drawn down. To be very honest with yous, I couldn't decide what I should draw for that one, I kept on going back and forth on which sport was my favorite, should I put a drawing of a rugby ball and a goal post or a Netball and a hoop. There was so many different variety of sports that I couldn't just pick one, so I drew the word 'Sports' to show how much I love to play each sport the same as the other.

Why do we need to drink water?

Image result for cup of waterWhy is it important to drink water?

As we know water is apart of our lives, it is everywhere. It covers about two thirds of the world. We all believe that water only hydrates us for the day, but that’s not the only thing it does. Here are some interesting benefits about what water can do.
Water can keep us hydrated but, it also can clean our system. It flushes down all the toxin in the body that can build up and make us feel uncomfortably. Dehydration can bring on headaches, exhaustion, and can make your body odor smell horribly. Dehydration means ( a person or there body ) loses a large amount of water.

If you drink water it doesn’t just clean your system and keep you hydrated. It also builds our muscles. The reason why is because water carries oxygen to the cells of our body, including those muscles. Drinking water enables your muscles to work harder and longer.

Another thing that water can do is, it can make you smarter. Drinking water can increase your knowledge. Your brain needs oxygen  in order to function properly. Water contains oxygen and by drinking plenty of water, it will ensure that the brain gets all the oxygen it needs. Drinking eight to ten cups a day can also improve your mind.

So always make sure to keep hydrated because it can do so many wondrous things for you and it can improve many parts of your body.

Class Treaty

In class today we were given a task to create in a group our own treaty. This is what me and my group have created, it took a lot of time a  thought but it was all worth it in the end.
