Today in food tech we made Hot Cakes. To make these hot cakes the things you will need are...
- One Bowl preferably a medium size
- A frying pan
- A Spatula
- Whisk
- 1 & 1/2 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of milk
- Butter
- and 1 egg

Heat up the stove and keep it at low heat, place the pan on it and let it heat up. While the pan is pre-heating, get your bowl and put in 1 & 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk and 1 egg and whisk together till well combined.

Once well combined take a table spoon of butter and place it into the pan, it should melt nicely. Once butter is melted place half a serving spoon of batter into the pan and wait for the edges to brown. Once it browns, flip the hot cake over and let the other side fry. Then just keep repeating the process till the batter is finished.

As soon as your batter is finished and everything is well fried, place everything onto a plate and your read to eat!!
Today in food tech we had to make, Blueberry Muffins. The equipment you will need to make Blueberry Muffins are , two bowls (one for wet and one for dry ingredients), spatula, whisk, and measuring cups. The ingredients you will need are, self rising flour (or any flour), sugar, vegetable oil, and one egg.

Before you start baking, make sure you pre-heat your oven to 180 degrees. Take your two bowls and pour 1 1/2 cup on flour into one bowl, following by 1/2 a cup of sugar. Get your other bowl and put your one egg in, put also 1/2 a cup of oil and 1/2 a cup of milk. Stir till well combined. Once the wet ingredients are well combined, you then mix it into the dry ingredients, make sure their is no lumps left in the mixture.

After combing both wet and dry together, get your muffin tray and use your egg wash brush to brush the oil onto the muffin tray, making sure to evenly spread the oil in each
Once that's done, grab a table spoon and start to scoop one table spoon into each hole. Any excess batter, just add into each of the hole. Once your batch is finished, grab your blueberries and put them on top of each muffin (you can use any berries of your liking), make sure to push the berries down so they can bake inside the Muffins.

After you finished topping off your muffins, put them into the oven at 180 degrees and let bake for 15-20 minutes. Once baked you can take out and enjoy :)) Happy baking!! Today is the first week back here at school and not to mention our first week back at food tech. For our first day back we learnt to make chocolate muffins. . .Again. To make this we used 2 cups of Self rising flour, one cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of coco powder, 1/2 of oil, 1 cup of milk and one egg. Before you make your batter, pre heat your over to 180 degrees. Then set up your cup cake trays with cupcake shaped baking sheets and put that aside.

After you have everything prepared, mix all your ingredients together and make sure it's nice and smooth, you don't want it to be to runny, just make sure it's thick enough and runny enough to split into 9 cupcake sheets. After you've mixed it, get a large spoon and scoop half the batter into each cupcake paper sheet, the batter should be split even into all cupcake paper sheets. After that leave in the over for at least half an hour, poke with a kebab stick to make sure it's ready. Then there you go, an easy tasty way to make yourself a chocolatey treat.Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11216354548082963050noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080111505744358222.post-58896420606232662062018-10-18T12:39:00.001+13:002018-10-18T12:39:26.619+13:00Why New Zealand Primary School Teachers Are Striking For A Day

The teachers union president (Lynda Stuart) Supports the teachers strikes because the teachers are tired and they are underpaid. Quote- " Why didn't it happen three years ago? We weren't quite in the same situation. People were embattled, really, because of all of the policy changes. They were demoralised, they were tired, They are still tired, they are still overworked but they have been given hope."

I agree with this because, I think teachers deserve a rise in there pay, I mean they work throughout the week days, for at least 1-10 hours a day. 8am-3pm being the times they teach and the extra 3 to come together with all the other teachers and have meetings to discuss over how they can help the kids in there classes and what is next to teach.

We went down and met up with an officer called Len. He explained to us that most of the people there were full Chinese and that most of them were ages 80+. He walked us in and as we went in we introduced ourselves "Nihao ma wo jiao Heather", which means "Hello my name is Heather". Not long after introducing ourselves we went and started playing. It started off slow, one student at a time, just rotating, but then we started to open up and all split up and versed different people, will play two on two, and pare up with an elderly, then will play one on ones, all different type of things. It was a blast getting to meet some new people that I wasn't really familiar with, and out of all this, I finally learned how to play table tennis properly. But it was a good experience. After all the fun we returned back to school and period three and carried on throughout our days.
Today at tech class we made french toast. It's a combination of eggs and toast fried in a pan. It is a simple yet delicious meal you can make for either, breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever you feel like it!

The things you will need, are. . . Four eggs, half a cup of milk, some bread, butter, a bowl, whisk, and a pan. The first step pre-heat the stove to quarter-too and put your pan on it to heat up. As that warms up, crack four eggs into a bowl with half a cup of milk and whisk until well combined.

Step two, cut your bread in half and dip into your egg mixture. Once the pan is hot enough, put some butter in it and let it melt, after that place the soaked bread into the pan and let cook till golden brown. Once golden brown on both sides, put it on a plate and it's ready to serve!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11216354548082963050noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080111505744358222.post-79789123214724113132018-06-28T12:43:00.002+12:002018-07-04T14:31:40.690+12:00Migration Model Paragraph
There are different reasons why people leave their place of origin, there are both push and pull reasons. Push reasons are the negative reasons that push people away from there land of origin, example, in Tokelauan people, are starting to move due to, limited education, pay isn’t good, qualities of jobs aren't as good and so forth. The pull reasons are the positive reasons that attract people to another place of destination, let’s take the Tokelauan people as our example, they migrated from their country of origin to their new destination NZ (New Zealand), they moved there because of all the pull reasons like, they get better pay, the education is better and many other reasons. Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11216354548082963050noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080111505744358222.post-78672626012287556952018-05-24T12:50:00.001+12:002018-05-24T12:50:12.114+12:00Changes in Tokelau Today in class we have learned about the changes that are happening in Tokelau. One of the many great changes that have happened in Tokelau is the fact that, women are now allowed to attend the fono (council meetings). I think that this is a great change because now, the women can now get a fair idea about whats going on in the villages/island, they can now share there point of view in what should or shouldn't happen.Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11216354548082963050noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080111505744358222.post-88961122335192764782018-05-17T12:36:00.000+12:002018-05-17T12:36:23.564+12:00Social Studies Two concepts I learned today are Migration and Globalisation. I learned that migration is when people move from one place to another. For example, you live in New Zeland for 5years and then for the next 10 you move to Australia and live there etc. Globalisation is when is like when other businesses or organizations develop international influence or begin operating on an international scale.

In Tokelau, there are many challenges that they (the people of Tokelau) are facing. One challenge they are facing is education. In the video, we found out that there education/schooling only go from the ages 5 - 8 (years 1 -4), In this situation some kids either get homeschooled or sent over to other islands/countries to gain better knowledge and skills.

Another challenge they are facing is the number of people who are leaving and migrating to other island and countries, especially the young strong ones, (Around the ages of 16 and over). The reason being to why their numbers are decreasing is because most of the kids and families are leaving to other islands/countries to gain a better education for themselves and to become more skilled than they already are. Another thing we learned during this lesson

It is very important to study for any test. Our exams have finished but now we come to the challenge of facing our teacher one on one for our personal maths test. These Presentations have helped me prepare myself for those test. They teach me to understand problems and whether I use addition, multiplication or division for solving it out.Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08808036668298048460noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080111505744358222.post-40364972198279718322017-11-19T14:30:00.001+13:002017-11-19T14:30:28.063+13:00Manaiakalani Film Festival
Pt England have been sharing movies for the Manaiakalani Film Festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts for the past 10 years now. This year has been a blast! Being able to create movies and not to mention celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Manaiakalani. I loved each movie that were presented by my school and others, they were very inspirational and had different opinions around it. But this movie particularity caught my eye. This movie is about our Sevens boys and there journey to becoming champions. I hope you enjoy!

WALT: Take care of the little things in our writing
I believe that a good role model is someone who has good qualities which are admired and he/she is someone who I would aspire to be like when I grow up. They are somebody who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way at all time. A role model is someone who has strength and determination to get up each and every morning, and even after a lifetime of pain he/she always gives the world another chance. In today’s lesson I will be sharing to you 3 ways to be a good role model.

One way to become a good role model is by doing things without being told. For example, finishing off your homework. When you complete your homework, it leaves you with relief knowing that you don’t have to worry until next week's assignments. It also means that when you come home you have more time to yourself, and not to mention it will leave both you and your teacher satisfied at the end of the day.

Another way to be a good role model is to, treat others the way you want to be treated. I think this is very important because, if you treat someone with no respect or positivety, they will probably treat you the same way and then, a lot of anger and bad feelings will be flowing between you and that person. But, if you treat he/she as your equal, in the future, you would most probably become best friends and you both will create many great and wonderful memories together.

For my final example all good role models always have humility and willingness to admit mistakes. Nobody is perfect. When you make a bad decision, let those who are watching and learning from you know that you made a mistake and how you plan to correct it.
By apologising, accepting accountability, and correcting course, you will be demonstrating an often overlooked part at being a role model.

True role models are those who posses qualities. They choose to be who they are. Their the ones who decide whether to choose the good or bad.
